These are examples of rumors and lore that are passed down through generations in the wasteland. Any can be followed up apon, and a legend “debunking” run or two may be fun.
- The Desert Ghost: A myth told from wandering caravans and traders. They tell tale of a spirit that moves like the wind, invisably stealing and robbing from the unwary. One eye witness account saw a “blur” pick through his weapons chest, steal an expensive sniper rifle and “vanish” through a window before he could react. What a ghost wants with a rifle is beyond most people…
- First Paladin Dubrie: The western town of Dubrie owes its namesake to one of the first Glitter Boys to go rouge from the military and seek to defend the helpless. Legend has it, he came apon a small unnamed town some 200 years ago and fought off a hoard of Deebees by himself. Mortaly wounded, he passed on into the desert sunset, leaving his now lost armor to the towns next defender.
- Exodus Rift: A story that inspires hope for the future, probbly nothing more. Allegedly a NAN general took a large part of her forces through an early rift. Her plan was to ignore the war and fallout and return when the world needs her most. Ocassionaly there are accounts of “scouts” from her army preforming recon in the wastes, but these persons are just as easily madmen.
- Space Aliens Walk Among Us!: Always a classic. There are fringe elements that claim extraterrestrial life, which look human, are here and are doing their own neferious deeds. The more rational amoungst us say “WHO CARES”! With so many mutants, mad mages, murderers and extra dimentional beings trying to kill us, whats an alien gonna do?
